Eureka Springs in May

This was my last blog from my old blog site...

Venture into the Ozark Mountains in the Spring...if you don't already live here...and your senses will be rewarded!  The smell of the flowers & the bakeries, the graceful deer (in the center of the photo below) & other breathtaking sights in the Ozark Mountains, and also the sounds of the birds singing & occasional thunder during the spring storms.

They say April showers bring May flowers, and with lakes overflowing this week from the excessive rain, we should have a wonderful array of flowers if the gardens aren't flooded out!   Here is a photo of a country road & tennis courts consumed by Table Rock Lake located just south of Hollister, which is just south of Branson, Missouri.

We went to Eureka Springs this week while on a shopping trek through Northwest Arkansas, and I took a few photos...since I am a camera diva!   I had to make sure no cars were behind me in the rear view mirror before I hit the brakes to take yet another photo!  Eureka Springs is located west of Harrison, Arkansas, which is just a hop and a skip from Branson.  For visitor's information on Eureka Springs, click here.  For photo below & more visitor's information, click here.

Eureka Springs is celebrating the 24th Annual Festival of the Arts starting this Sunday, May 1st, 2011, and continuing until May 31st.  Stay at a Bed & Breakfast, and take in all the charming Victorian houses that line the city streets.   Oh, and bring a shopping fund, as well as your camera and batteries/charger!

Start off the day with coffee...and get your walking shoes on your feet!

Go antiquing!  Visit Something Simple, an awe-inspiring antique shop located in a beautiful Victorian house decorated with fantastic decor & antiques for sale!  Kaylene's shop is located at 107 E. Van Buren (the main street coming in from Harrison - the north side of the street).

Remember things your Grandmother had, and things she never had but would have wanted, at Just Reminiscing...located on the same street, on the south side of 2058 E. Van Buren.  Get your jewels on!

Before you head downtown, visit Vintage Cargo...located at 41 Kingshighway...

Go mantiquing downtown on the lower level streets...

Go window shopping on the upper level streets...

Take a break & sit for a spell!  Watch the sunset in a comfortable wicker chair on the porch...whether you stay at a hotel, a B & B, or the Crescent Moon Hotel!

Don't miss a trip to the Crescent Moon Hotel, found at the top of the hill!  I highly recommend the ghost tour in the evening!

On the way out of town, if you are heading to Branson and/or Springfield,  remember that in between the two is our own spectacular antique & gift shop, located on Business Hwy. 65 in Ozark, on the northwest corner of South (Wal-Mart exit) & 3rd Streets!
